Good News Today

Colossians 3:2 Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].

Friends, the good news today says SET YOUR MIND ON THE THINGS ABOVE.

In the previous issues of Good News Today, I’ve been writing about how to deal with negative thoughts. As I mentioned, when negative thoughts come in, erase them and replace them with positive thoughts. We don’t have control over the things that happen around us but we have control in our minds. It’s our property. Instead of dwelling on the negative thoughts, we need to erase them and replace them with positive thoughts (Galatians 5:22-23).

It’s a battle but we can do it by setting our minds in the promises of God (Isaiah 26:3), guarding our minds (Philippians 4:8), and believing that
God will give us perfect peace. Unless the affections are set on godly things, they will never be sought after in a proper manner. We need to meditate on God’s words (Joshua 1:8), think about them, favor and approve of them, be affectionately desirous of them, and be concerned for them; for where the treasure is, the heart should be.

By meditating on God’s word, we will be successful and prosperous. Switch negative with positive things. Fill your mind with the positive, if that happens, there is no room for the negative.

Friends, do not give the devil a foothold for it will devour us.

God bless us all. Let’s keep the faith.

Good News Today

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.

Friends, the good news today says TRUST GOD, HE WILL GIVE US PERFECT PEACE.

In yesterday’s issue of our Good News Today, I wrote about “how to deal with negative thoughts”. Today, I want to focus on Isaiah 26:3. This verse promises perfect peace to those who trust in God and keep their minds on him. It is part of a song that praises God for his salvation and faithfulness to his people, even when they sin and face judgment. The word “perfect” in the verse means true, real, solid, and abundant. The word “stayed” or “steadfast” in the verse means dependent, fixed, or focused.

Keep in our mind what God promises to us. Our cited verse promises that God will give perfect peace to those who trust Him. Be selective about what you dwell on. Don’t play in your mind our anger, our fear, our insecurities. If we play repeatedly our worries, we can’t move on. The feeling will drag us down. Trust God, He will take good care of us. The key principle is “when negative thoughts come, erase them and replace them with positive thoughts.” Remember, when we received Jesus, we received the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit will bear fruits (Galatians 5:22-23).

Friends, as I always say, don’t leave our minds empty for the devil will make it his playground. Put your mind in the right direction and your life will go in the right direction.

God bless us all. Let’s keep the faith.

Good News Today

Lamentations 3:22-23 Because of the LORD’s great love, we are not consumed, for his compassion never fails. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Friends, the good news today says NEVER ALLOW NEGATIVE THINGS TO REIGN OUR MIND.

Imagine, a stranger knocking at your door bringing an axe, hammer, rifle, a bag of poison, and other harmful dangerous things. You wouldn’t think twice, you will immediately tell him, you are not welcome in this house. You will ask him to get out of the property and shut the door. The same thing, we don’t allow destructive thoughts to come in, we should not let negative thoughts reign in our minds. We have complete control not to let the negative thoughts in our minds.

Negative things weigh us down, limiting our future, what we need to do is keep our mind positive, hopeful, expecting good things, believing to overcome, and trusting God in what he can do. We can’t stop negative thoughts from coming but the key is to control the doorway to your mind.

Philippians 4:8 says Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, … think about these things. The scripture tells us to guard our minds. Be selected. Rejoicing in the face of all circumstances is part of having the mindset of Jesus, who showed radical obedience to God no matter what. This mindset brings us the peace of God and keeps us from anxiety.

Don’t play in our minds the things that worry us. Remember Matthew 6:33. He takes good care of the birds and the lilies. How much more, His children. Trust Him, he will take good care of us.

Friends, the key principle is “when negative thoughts come, erase them and replace them with positive thoughts”. Don’t leave your mind empty. Put your mind in the right direction and your life will go in the right direction.

God bless us all. Let’s keep the faith.

Good News Today

John 15:16-17 NLT You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.

Friends, the good news today says JESUS CALLED AND CHOOSE US TO BE HIS PARTNER IN SPREADING THE GOOD NEWS.

God called us and destined us to live our mark. In the Bible, He chooses David (the shepherd boy, poor), Moses (who took man’s life, with a speech problem), a woman of Samaria (the talk of the town with 6 husbands), Peter a fisherman, Matthew tax collector, Thomas a doubting spirit. Like them, God selected us even with our shortcomings. We were handpicked by the creator of the Universe. We are His masterpiece and He prepared us, equipped us, and empowered us to do a certain job in spreading the good news.

When I was young, I never dreamed, I will be spreading the good news. But God chose me. He used my wife (Sister Glo) for me to see God has a plan for me in the church. Now, I love sharing the good news. It gives me so much inspiration. After the day, together with my partner Bro Ramil sharing the good news, I feel very satisfied doing the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20).

Friends, God is calling us to do our ministry, what will be our response?

God bless us all. Let’s keep the faith.

Good News Today

Matthew 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Friends, the good news today says WHEN WE ARE PLANTED IN THE SANCTUARY OF GOD, WE WILL FLOURISH.

For the last four days in my good news, I have been emphasizing that believers should go to church and be connected with other believers. The benefits of going to church are limitless. When we attend worship services, we encourage one another to do the same; we expect that God will do something for us. When we gather in His name, God is in the midst of us and we will flourish. Most importantly, when we go to church and joined other believers, God’s glory is shining on us. By continuing our worship, we serve the Lord; and ultimately, we can understand God’s plan for us; and we will receive the promise of the Holy Spirit.

The live stream is for people abroad, for the sick. Worshiping in front of the television is good but face-to-face with other believers is better.

Friends, when we go to church, God covers us. There is protection, God battles for us, we are connected, and we are honoring God.

God bless us all. Let’s keep the faith.

Good News Today

Psalm 92:13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

Friends, the good news today says BELIEVERS SHOULD GO TO CHURCH AND COMMUNE WITH OTHER BELIEVERS.

In Psalms 26:8 David says, LORD, I love the house where you live, the place where your glory dwells. When we are with the brethren; God’s glory is shining on us. The blessing will come because we are planted in the house of the Lord. Sometimes, we can’t go to the church to worship. There are destructions and interruptions, but we need to arrange our schedule and come into the house of God with other believers.

I love to watch various sporting events especially when it is live, even under the scorching heat of the sun, I watch my favorite game. I’m a big fan. I enjoy doing it. I don’t mind the heat. Just like last Saturday during our Mother’s Day cum fellowship celebration, we went swimming,k even though it was sunny and hot, we kept under the sun because we liked it. We don’t complain. We have the spirit to enjoy.

What about having that spirit in coming to church and telling ourselves, we love God and we are going to the house of the Lord, not to cheer with our team in sports but to worship God and inspire other believers?

Friends, don’t forsake the assembling with other brethren for the day is approaching.

God bless us all. Let’s keep the faith.
